Kids Bedroom Organization Tips

bedroom organization tipsKids bedrooms are always a challenge to keep organised.  What with all the toys, clothes and school stuff it can seem a nightmare to keep tidy but there are ways to keep organized and make it fun to stay that way!

Storage

There are loads of kids storage units to choose from depending on the available space that you have, many with cartoon characters or bright colors that kids love.  Using the right storage could help to keep this space well organized and easy to keep that way.

Choose from under bed boxes, hung storage from walls, doors or ceiling or closet organizers.  Letting your kids help you to choose the style and color can help with getting their buy-in to stay tidy.

Space savers

Once you have the storage sorted, it’s time to tackle the bedroom space.  Give the kids some say in how they would like the bedroom organized to keep them involved and give them a sense of ownership.

Keep things fun by setting up a basketball hoop with suction cups on the wall above an open hamper to encourage kids to put their laundry or toys where they should be and not on the floor.

If you want a desk and chair, get a set that has storage in both the desk and chair to give you even more space for toys or choose barrel storage with cushioned seats as a practical way to store more and add some extra seating to the room.

Fabric collapsible bin storage is a great idea for kids.  Decorated as animals or people, they come in a wide variety of colors and styles and are great for light toys or laundry.  When they are not in use, they are really easy to store.

Recycle

Encourage your kids to sort out their toys on a regular basis, having a clear out every 6 months will help prevent a build up of toys that are no longer used.  These can go to a charity or be recycled in other ways.

Keep it fun

Once organized, encourage your kids to keep it that way.  You could turn it into a contest between your kids to keep their bedroom tidiest the longest or they could earn points for special treats if they keep their room clear and clean every day.  Making it more fun is the best way to ensure your efforts to get organized are maintained.
