Master
Bedroom Organization Tips
The
master bedroom should be a relaxing place where you can shut the
door on the stress and chaos of your day and totally unwind. If
yours if feeling more like a garage sale preparation area than a
relaxing sanctuary then it’s time to take action. Clearing the
clutter will not only be less stressful but you will also save loads
of time by finding what you want when you want it.
Surfaces
The best place to start is the surfaces that you can see and are in
constant use. Start by removing everything from your dresser and
sort it into things you use every day, things that you use often but
not every day and things you haven’t used for months and can’t think
when you will next get round to using. Throw away anything that you
don’t use, store the things you don’t use often in a drawer and keep
you everyday items on your dresser. Drawer dividers can help keep
things clutter free and a caddy or small basket is ideal for the
daily items on your dresser.
Under the bed
If
you have space under your bed, this can become a big clutter zone.
It is worth investing in some storage boxes to keep this area
clutter free and these can be bought in all shapes and sizes. Some
also come with wheels for easy access. Have under bed storage is
great for books or out of season clothes. If you have a bed with
fitted drawers, it is probably time you gave these a good overhaul
as well.
Closet
The closet is another big clutter zone and it is often worth
spending some extra time fixing it to suit your personal needs with
a closet storage system. These can be adapted for any size closet
to maximise the space. Also consider things like shelves that also
hang clothes below, storage boxes on the floor or shoe racks that
can be hung inside the door. Vacuum storage bags are also a great
idea for maximising space and storing out of season clothes.
Finally, if there are items piling up that aren’t even meant to be
in your bedroom then do something with them. Either put them in the
right room, get rid of things you no longer use or donate them to a
charity.
By
approaching the master bedroom one area at a time, things will fall
into place. By keeping up on the clutter on a daily basis, the room
can remain a place to escape it all and relax from the stresses of
the day.
