Organize the
Kitchen Once and For All
For
many of us, the kitchen is the centre of our family life. Not only
do we cook in them but we often use them to socialize and for other
family activities. Learn how to organise the kitchen so that it
becomes a pleasurable space for you to spend more time with your
family.
Get rid of things
If you look around at your
kitchen contents, you may find that you have duplicate items or
things that you plan to use ‘someday’ but are just cluttering up
your cupboard or worktop space. When was the last time you used
these items? If it was over a year ago then it’s time they had a
new home. Either save them for a garage sale, give them away or if
they are still boxed new, why not try the online auctions to make a
little cash whilst you de-clutter!
Create more storage
Most of us only have so many
kitchen cupboards so need to use the space in the best way
possible. A lot of items do not practically fit in the cupboards so
you need to look at alternative storage solutions. Frames that hang
from the ceiling work well for larger items such as pots and pans
and can be found in different styles to suit most kitchens.
Cooking Utensils can be stored in an attractive container / canister
on your worktop so that they are all in one place and easily
accessible.
A
kitchen island is ideal to give you more storage and additional
workspace when you need it. This does not have to be a permanent
fixture. There are many small islands on wheels that can be moved
to one side of the kitchen or kept in a cupboard when they are not
being used. This is a quick and easy way to add extra storage and
space to smaller kitchens.
Look at other space that you may be able to use. Do you have space
for shelving on the walls or above your kitchen cabinets? A few
extra shelves can make all the difference without making your
kitchen look more cluttered.
Make life easier
The way you organise you
space and where they are placed in your kitchen can mean much less
work for you in the long term. Store your bake ware and utensils
near to your stove for ease of use. Store your glasses, dishes and
silverware near to the dishwasher so that they can be put away
quickly. Keep frequently used items such as mugs on a mug tree so
that they are easily on hand when you want to make a cuppa. All of
these things may only save a few minutes each time but if you spend
a lot of time in the kitchen, these minutes can all add up and cause
less frustration when you are trying to find things.
Every kitchen is different so it is worth de-cluttering first and
then taking some time to think about what would work best for you to
make it an organized family friendly space and a room that you enjoy
spending time in.
