Recycling at
Home
Recycling
is becoming more and more popular as people realize how important it
is to reduce waste and prevent overfilled landfill sites. As well
as being good for the environment, recycling at home can also help
to keep it clutter free.
Set up your own mini
recycling centre
You can easily set up a recycling centre in your own home to help
reduce the clutter. The best way to do this is to line some bins
with bags to hold various recyclable items such as cans, plastic
bottles and paper and keep them in your basement, garage or utility
room. When a member of your family sees something lying around they
can simply put it in the appropriate bin instead of letting it pile
up. When the bins are full, you can either leave them outside for
pick up or take them to your local recycling centre.
Join a 'freecycling' group online
Many local regions also have recycling online e-mail groups. When people have something that they
don’t need anymore, they post it to this group and it can be claimed
by someone else on a first come, first serve basis and a pick up
time can be arranged. This is a great option if you want to get rid
of items that aren’t easy to recycle in other ways. If you
don't have one locally, why not start one yourself?
Recycling is just like anything else in that it becomes easy once
you make a regular habit out of it. Encourage the whole family
to join in and it needn't be hard work if you all recycle as you go.
