Get a Dose of Self Belief
Are you one
of those people who do not believe in yourself or your
abilities? Whether you are constantly unhappy with
your appearance or don't think you are good enough at
something, low self belief can be such a drain on our
wellbeing and self esteem.
Low self
belief can result in a lack of confidence, esteem issues
and a feeling of being stuck in your current
circumstances because you are afraid don't believe you
are able to make changes in your life. Going
through life with so much self-doubt and fear of failure
can be mentally debilitating and results in missing out
on so many great opportunities.
Whatever the
reasons for suffering with low self belief, here are
some tips for helping you push through the fear of
change.
-
Make a
decision to change - a good starting point is making
the decision to think differently. Decide
today that you have had enough of putting yourself
down and that you will make the effort to believe in
yourself more.
-
Write a
list - all of us have achieved things in our lives,
big or small and we forget about all these times
when we have had the belief and ability. Make
a list of everything you can think of that you have
achieved in the past that you are proud of.
-
Let go
of the past - sometimes we have low self belief
because of a bad experience in the past or because
someone has told us that we are not good enough.
Difficult situations do happen and are part of life.
If something from your past is holding you back, you
need to learn to put it behind you where it belongs
and decide that today is a new start for you.
-
Take
risks - I am not talking about putting yourself in
unnecessary danger or jumping straight into
situations that terrify you! What will help
though, it taking smaller risks everyday to push the
boundaries of our comfort zones. Join a course that
you have always wanted to do, go somewhere you have
always wanted to go - doing something that scares us
a little reinforces our confidence in ourselves and
increases our self belief.
-
Choose
someone to talk to - if you have issues that you
struggle with, it can help to talk to someone who is
positive and upbeat and you know will help you push
forward to achieve your goals. Beware of
seeking out someone who is negative as this can have
the opposite effect.
-
Be
inspired - Seek out stories of other successful
people. The only difference between people
achieving different levels of success is the amount
of self belief they have. We are all human
after all, no one else possesses any special powers
that you do not have. It's all down to how
much you believe you can achieve.
